Belt tests are administered every 6 to 8 weeks. Not every student test each time. We invite students who have met the requirements of their current belt to participate. The student must demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing in order to progress to the next belt. If a student fails to demonstrate proficiency in any one area of testing he/she may be asked to return at a future test or may be asked to demonstrate in class how they have improved. Black belt test are administered annually. All persons meeting the requirement for black belt are certified through the Kukkiwon organization. Kukkiwon is the governing body for Taekwondo and is headquartered in South Korea. Testing for black belt is a privilege and an honor. We believe black belt testing should be reserved for those who earn the right to test for it and not just "given" to someone because they signed a 3 or 4 year black belt club contract. All techniques should be taught by a qualified instructor prior to being practiced. Improper execution of techniques creates bad habits which are hard to correct. Our belt system is divided into four categories: 1. Beginners - comprised of white, yellow and orange belt. 2. Intermediate - comprised of green, purple and blue belts. 3. Advanced - comprised of red, brown 1, brown 2, brown 3 and brown 4 4. Black belt - composed of temporary black belt and up
